Sand Blasting Machine Mixing Tube Assembly

The mixing tube assembly is used in sand blasting machines. It is found at the base of the sand blasting hopper where it is used for satisfactory mixing of air-abrasive media to promote the free flow of media. The mixture of air abrasive is carried to the sand blasting nozzle through a blasting hose. It is fabricated from cast iron, aluminium, and mild steel. The device consists of a mixing tube, an abrasive nipple, union and air nipple.

The device used to regulate the mixture of abrasive with compressed air found under the pressure vessel of the abrasive grit blasting machine. Common types of regulating devices include automatic plunger devices, manual plunger devices, flat style regulating devices, automatic pinch regulating devices, manual pinch regulating devices, and doughnut type regulating devices.

All regulating devices come in touch with abrasives and are subjected to wear and tear. For this purpose, regulating devices should be serviced, lubricated, and inspected for wear according to the manufacturer’s recommendations (usually after 3 months of use). All makes and types of regulating devices that are maintained properly, and have worn parts replaced before a failure — these lead to last much endless.

Working of Mixing Tube

Mixing tubes are used in portable pressure blasting machines and pressure blasting cabinet from which the abrasive media is pushed down by means of air and hopper structure. In portable and cabinet type blasting machines, the air inlet is given by suitable compressor, then inlet air hose pipe is connected to machine fitting such as air filter, from air filter air goes in a pressure vessel and in one end of mixing tube. The pressure vessel is filled with abrasive media and gets pressurized by compressed air which pressurizes the abrasive media to pinch valve which is connected to the centre end of the mixing of the tube.

Now from one side compressed air is coming and from the centre end abrasive is coming, at the outlet mixture of both compressed air and abrasive is out for blasting purpose. Mixing tubes have 3 openings in which, one side is connected with incoming air hose pipe from the air filter, the centre opening is connected with a hopper or pressure port of abrasive blasting machine and the other end is outlet hose in which air and abrasive mixture comes out for blasting purpose. It is heat-treated for the longer wear resistance property.
