Deadman Handle

Pneumatic Deadman Handle for Sand Blasting Machine

Deadman handle is used in a sandblasting hopper to control the blasting process. Deadman handle gives the air signal to the remote command valve for activation of the abrasive the deactivation of the abrasive from the blasting pot. When the deadman handle is activated, the blasting process begins, when the handle is released the blast cleaning process stops. This allows the blasting to be carried out at a distance from the sandblasting hoppers and by a single operator. Deadman handle is also known as deadman switch. Deadman handle supplies an easy way to stop the flow of abrasive media by automatically sealing the passage away when the operator starts the operation.

Working of Deadman Handle in Blasting Machines

The remote-control valve is a completely pneumatic air control or commands for remote activation and deactivation of the abrasive media like copper slag, steel grit, aluminium oxide, steel shots, etc. in the blasting pot. When the deadman handle has activated the blast, the process begins when the handle is activated the blasting process begins to start when the handle is released the blasting cleaning process can stop. The system exhausts air from the vessel to allow for the filling of abrasive media to the portable sand blasting machine.

The remote-control valve is used by an abrasive media blasting operator for starting up and shutting down the sand blasting machine. The remote-control method includes a remote-control valve and DMH (deadman handle), which is connected by a twin pipe. The remote-control handle often pre-referred to as a dead man switch. The trigger is used for the remote-control valve system. When the operator releases the deadman handle, the portable sandblasting machines deactivate, stopping air and the flow of abrasive media through the sandblasting nozzle.

The remote controls operate pneumatically. If the operator is not pressing the deadman handle (DMH), one stream of air travels down the outbound side of the twin line and escapes through an opening located under the lever. Generally, the closed inlet valve remains closed, and the normal open outlet valve remains open. While the deadman handle lever is pressed, the opening is sealed, and air in the outbound line returns through the inbound line to open the inlet valve and close the outlet valve.

This action pressurizes the sandblasting machine and begins the blasting process. Freeing the deadman handle puts the machine in exhaust mode, which closes the inlet valve, and opens the outlet valve to depressurize the portable sand blasting machine and stop the blasting.

Application of Deadman Handle

In most simple terms, we can say that there a switch on or off for a portable blasting machine. The deadman handle is located near to the nozzle so the machine operator can easily turn on or off the deadman handles switch. There are two ways first by a pneumatically with air and electrically. The dead man handle acts as a safety switch for the operator.
